About The Worship Ministry

To worship God is one of the greatest gifts He has ever given to man, perhaps second only to salvation. The bible is clear that the primary “activity” once in heaven will be to worship Almighty God, to gaze upon His holiness. Some see this as an eternal church service, and depending on your personal experience with church it may be. To many, however, our experience with church services pale in comparison to worshipping God in heaven. I think it is more like Christmas as a child, opening one gift after another and the elation that it was just what you wanted, just what you had hoped for.

Churches as a whole have not done a very good job teaching the parishioners what worship truly is. Most think that worship is singing hymns or songs of praise. Worship is so much more grand and fulfilling than just singing, though it is a part of worship. William Temple, the late Archbishop of Canterbury defined worship as:

Worship is the submission of all of our heart to God.
It is the quickening of conscience by His holiness,
Nourishment of mind by His truth,
Purifying of imagination by His beauty,
Opening of the heart to His love,
And submission of will to His purpose.
And all this gathered up in adoration is the greatest of human expressions
of which we are capable.

In many ways, singing songs to God with our voice, in our heart, is one way to accomplish the depth of true worship. However, the desire of the worship ministry’s heart is to provide the congregation the opportunity to bring Him “more than a song, cause a song in itself is not what You have required”, as Matt Redman says in his song Heart of Worship.

We hope you will join us in reaching out to touch the heart of God with us on Sunday.
